Congratulations to Jewdoka (Joe Schultz, author of Canon of Hive - Groundwork)!
He is the first player in the World Championship to advance to the Quarter Finals.
After losing game one to SimHotA (Simon Ebner) playing Black, Jewdoka fought back and won the match 3.5-2.5.
Down 1-0 and playing Black in two consecutive games, Jewdoka earned a draw in game two before losing game three and falling behind 2.5-0.5.
On Sunday 20 September, the two faced off. The first two games had Jewdoka playing White. If SimHotA could win either game, the match would end!
But Jewdoka was able to win both and force a winner-take-all game six.
It was a hard-fought game, with SimHotA playing White. Simon had chances but Joe defended successfully, counter-attacked and won!
